AdventHealth and Humana Medicare Advantage are in the process of a scheduled contract renewal for our AdventHealth facilities in Colorado. While progress has been made in our discussions, it is unlikely that negotiations will be met by our January 1, 2024 renewal deadline.

It is AdventHealth’s understanding that Humana recently sent letters to Humana Medicare Advantage plan members. The letter outlines next steps should a contract agreement not be met by the January 1, 2024 deadline. This would result in AdventHealth being considered out-of-network. While it is unfortunate these letters were sent, it is required by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and part of the negotiation process used by some payors.

We recognize the prospect of having to change health care providers in order to avoid out-of-network costs can be stressful and unsettling. However, we deeply value our patients and are doing everything we can to ensure we remain in-network for Humana Medicare Advantage plan members. AdventHealth is continuing to have active discussions with Humana as we work to come to a positive, partnership-oriented, and fair agreement.

Our goal is to achieve a reasonable outcome that aligns with the interests of our patients and with our mission to Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ.
